    Abstract

The present study aims at identifying the influence of management training programs in business performance. In light of the construct of competences, the research tries to clarify the different levels of contribution of development programs for executives in three large Brazilian organizations. The study was carried out using the method of case studies, exploratory in nature, being interviewed thirty professionals of these companies. The findings present an overview about the major individuals, groups and organization changes, resulting from the relations between business management development and performance. The investigation highlights that the survival and the differentiation of a company over time is the result of knowing how to act collectively, which is shown in the interconnected action of a set of people and resources, with the manager responsible for this articulation.
