Frauen auf dem Arbeitsmarkt vor und während der COVID-19-Krise

Abstract

Die Ergebnisse des "Gleichstellungsindex Arbeitsmarkt", der zuletzt unmittelbar vor Ausbruch der COVID-19-Pandemie auf Basis von Daten aus dem Jahr 2019 aktualisiert wurde, zeigen insbesondere ungenütztes Gleichstellungspotential bei Frauen mit Kindern. Zugleich gibt es Hinweise, dass gerade durch die COVID-19-Pandemie verursachte Betreuungsarbeiten, die aus geschlossenen bzw. auf Notbetrieb umgestellten Betreuungseinrichtungen resultierten, oftmals von Frauen "aufgefangen" wurden. Darüber hinaus zeigen die jüngsten Arbeitsmarktdaten, dass Frauen durch die anhaltenden Lockdowns verhältnismäßig stärker getroffen wurden, was sich in rückläufiger Arbeitsmarktpartizipation, aber auch in der relativen Steigerung der Arbeitslosigkeit von Frauen zeigt. Dieser Research Brief analysiert die neuesten Entwicklungen von Frauen auf dem Arbeitsmarkt und zeigt Handlungsoptionen auf.
