Beschäftigung 2020: Bilanz nach einem Jahr COVID-19-Pandemie

Abstract

Die Maßnahmen der Bundesregierung zur Eindämmung der COVID-19-Pandemie hinterließen deutliche Spuren auf dem Arbeitsmarkt. Nach den drastischen Einbußen im Frühjahr 2020 gingen mit dem Wiederhochfahren der Wirtschaft und der Belebung des Sommertourismus die Beschäftigungsverluste zurück. Aufgrund des erneuten Lockdown im November und des hinausgeschobenen Beginns der Wintersaison im Tourismus zu Jahresende sank die Beschäftigung jedoch abermals und lag Ende Dezember 2020 um 3,3% unter dem Vorjahresniveau. Im Jahresdurchschnitt 2020 – d. h. einschließlich der Zeit bis zum ersten Lockdown im März – betrug der Rückgang der aktiv unselbständigen Beschäftigung 2,0%. Besonders von Arbeitsplatzverlusten betroffen waren junge Menschen sowie Arbeiterinnen und Arbeiter; nach Wirtschaftsbereichen büßten neben dem Tourismus der Arbeitskräfteverleih, die Reisebranche (Reisebüros, Reiseveranstalter), die kontaktintensiven Bereiche Freizeit, Kultur und persönliche Dienstleistungen sowie der Verkehr am stärksten an Beschäftigten ein.
