Role of women and demographic change in Cuba

Abstract

Presents the economic and social framework which determined the situation of women before and after the Cuban Revolution; analyses the fertility levels and trends during the last decade and some of the factors associated with changes in fertility (female labour force participation, education, mortality, marriage and divorce, contraception and abortion); examines current policies; and outlines current and future changes, as well as presents general conclusions.
