Quality-of-Life in the Swedish general population during Covid-19 – based on measurement pre- and post pandemic outbreak

Abstract

Utbrottet av pandemin COVID-19 (Corona Virus) har resulterat i internationella och nationella strategier, såsom social distansering och reseförbud, som har mildrat hälsoförlusten till följd av pandemi men också gett upphov till en allvarlig ekonomisk kris. Båda faktorerna, pandemin och den ekonomiska krisen, kan förväntas påverka befolkningens livskvalitet. Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka livskvaliteten bland den svenska befolkningen under utbrottet av COVID-19-pandemin. En webbaserad enkät skickades ut till randomiserade urval av den vuxna svenska befolkningen före utbrottet av pandemin i Sverige i februari 2020 (n = 1 016) och under utbrottet av pandemi i Sverige i april 2020 (n = 1 003). Livskvalitet mättes med en VAS-Skala och EQ-5D-5L (endast aprilundersökning). Resultatet från en annan studie (Burström et al. 2020) användes som jämförelsepunkt för EQ-5D-5L-mätningen. Resultatet av undersökningen visar en minskning av den genomsnittliga livskvaliteten mellan februari och april 2020 i den vuxna svenska befolkningen på 0,07 baserat på VAS och 0,042 baserat på EQ-5D-5L. Livskvalitetsförlusten verkar främst drivas av ekonomisk oro. Den totala QALY-förlusten under April 2020 uppgår till cirka 29 000 QALYs baserat på EQ-5D-5L-mätningen och runt 42 000 QALYs baserat på VAS-mätningen. Resultatet av denna studie stöder användningen av ett brett perspektiv som tar hänsyn till hälsoförluster både som en följd av själva pandemin och som en konsekvens av strategierna för att begränsa/bromsa pandemin.
