Abstract

Cet article s'adresse à la caractérisation des défis de l'innovation technologique, des choix énergétiques et de la gouvernance pour un développement durable. Appréhendant la production de tels déchets comme le " revers " de la grandeur énergétique et industrielle -- et, plus particulièrement, le défi d'une veille sociétale sur les déchets radioactifs de très longue durée -- nous présentons les décisions énergétiques contemporaines comme des processus de " choix social " à la fois complexes et controversés. Reprenant le thème d'une "démocratie cognitive" cher à Jacques Theys, la prospective énergétique et environnementale est formulée comme une problématique d'évaluation multi-acteurs et multicritères dont les dimensions symbolique, existentielle et éthique sont au moins aussi prégnantes que les questions de performance technologique et financière.
