The Transformation of Work ? Trends in Work Organisation in Europe

Abstract

Ce rapport a trois objectifs principaux. Premièrement, il propose de cartographier l'organisation du travail et les environnements de travail par des indicateurs synthétiques pertinents pour décrire les différentes dimensions du travail. En particulier, nous analysons la complexité du travail, le degré d'indépendance dans l'allocation du temps de travail du salarié, l'intensité du travail et la qualité des conditions de travail dans 27 pays européens en 2005. Deuxièmement, nous mesurons les tendances dans ces différentes dimensions pour l'UE à 15 entre 1995, 2000 et 2005 ainsi que pour 12 nouveaux membres entre 2001 et 20005. Troisièmement, nous identifions les déterminants (à un niveau microéconomique et macroéconomique) de l'organisation des postes de travail en Europe. Cette recherche empirique s'appuie sur les Enquêtes européennes sur les conditions de travail de 1995, 2000, 2001 et 2005.Les contributions méthodologiques de ce rapport se situent à trois niveaux. Tout d'abord, pour capturer les dimensions les plus importantes du travail, nous construisons des indicateurs synthétiques. Ensuite, nous mesurons des tendances dans l'organisation du travail en Europe sur une période de dix ans. Cette mesure est particulièrement intéressante car les données mobilisées sont en coupe. Pour ce faire, nous développons une métrique de l'organisation du travail en 1995, que nous reproduisons en 2000, 2001 et 2005. Enfin, nous menons des comparaisons internationales en estimant des modèles multi-niveaux qui permettent de distinguer les déterminants microéconomiques et macroéconomiques de l'organisation des postes de travail.Les principaux résultats concernant la cartographie de l'organisation du travail en Europe peuvent être résumés de la façon suivante.
