Abstract

in shaping rural livelihoods. In this paper we review the existing evidence on internal and international migration in four countries of the North Africa and Near East (NENA) region with very diverse profiles both in terms of migration and of rural development: Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia. We also analyze the policy framework of rural development in the NENA region, evaluating to what extent current practice seems adapted to tackle the main issues highlighted by migration in the region.
