Wasser- und Abwasserinfrastruktur und Gesundheit in Entwicklungsländern

Abstract

Zugang zu sicherem Trinkwasser sowie zu Abwassersystemen wurde von den Vereinten Nationen 2010 als grundlegendes Menschenrecht anerkannt. Die Weltgesundheitsorganisation beschreibt die Schaffung solcher Zugänge als Baustein einer effektiven Gesundheitspolitik. In etlichen Entwicklungsländern besteht hier weiter Handlungsbedarf, dem mit Infrastruktur-Projekten entsprochen wird. Hierbei sind greifbare Erfolge zu verzeichnen. Bisweilen bleiben die angestrebten positiven Gesundheitswirkungen allerdings hinter den Erwartungen zurück. Die hemmenden Faktoren versuchen wissenschaftliche Untersuchungen der jüngeren Vergangenheit zu ermitteln und quantifizieren. Die Ergebnisse bilden die Basis für eine verbesserte Verwendung von Hilfsgeldern.
