La Edificaci�n y la Pol�tica Macroecon�mica

Abstract

Los estudios nacionales que relacionan la construcci�n y la pol�tica econ�mica se han concentrado en analizar el impacto de la edificaci�n como est�mulo al crecimiento econ�mico del pa�s y al empleo, no s�lo por la importancia relativa que la construcci�n tiene dentro del Producto Interno Bruto, PIB, sino, muy especialmente, por los encadenamientos y efectos indirectos que la actividad edificadora puede ejercer sobre el PIB, como bien lo han se�alado los m�ltiples trabajos del recordado profesor Lauchlin Currie. El t�pico de este ensayo, m�s bien, es identificar los determinantes econ�micos de la edificaci�n y explicar con base en estos al auge registrado en la construcci�n en el �ltimo quinquenio. Adem�s, se utiliza el modelo desarrollado en este estudio para analizar los cursos posibles de la actividad edificadora en el futuro a la luz del manejo macroecon�mico y del comportamiento esperado de la econom�a.
