La Edificación y la Política Macroeconómica

Abstract

Los estudios nacionales que relacionan la construcción y la política económica se han concentrado en analizar el impacto de la edificación como estímulo al crecimiento económico del país y al empleo, no sólo por la importancia relativa que la construcción tiene dentro del Producto Interno Bruto, PIB, sino, muy especialmente, por los encadenamientos y efectos indirectos que la actividad edificadora puede ejercer sobre el PIB, como bien lo han señalado los múltiples trabajos del recordado profesor Lauchlin Currie. El tópico de este ensayo, más bien, es identificar los determinantes económicos de la edificación y explicar con base en estos al auge registrado en la construcción en el último quinquenio. Además, se utiliza el modelo desarrollado en este estudio para analizar los cursos posibles de la actividad edificadora en el futuro a la luz del manejo macroeconómico y del comportamiento esperado de la economía.
