Abstract

This chapter provides a human-centered perspective on Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a transformative technology poised to reshape the workplace. It examines the historical trajectory of technological advancements and their impact on work environments. It explores how AI’s capabilities in logical processing and predictive analytics can complement human expertise, even while lacking human qualities like ethical judgment and creativity. The chapter emphasizes collaboration over replacing human capabilities and proposes a conceptual framework to guide integration, balancing innovation with preserving uniquely human roles essential for fairness and accountability. Organizational adaptations, including workforce reskilling and task reorganization, are discussed, illustrating how AI can align with human efforts to accomplish strategic goals. Ultimately, the authors argue that AI necessitates a collaborative workforce model, where human–AI systems work together to drive workplace innovation, aligning technology with mission-driven organizational values.
