Abstract

The rapid advancement and integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into business operations and everyday life have reshaped industries, enhanced efficiency and innovation, while at the same time introducing new challenges for both the individual and the organization. As AI technologies become increasingly embedded in devices and equipment used by various sectors such as healthcare, finance, education, and entertainment, the need for AI literacy extends beyond technology professionals to the public. AI literacy encompasses the essential knowledge and skills required to understand, evaluate, and responsibly use AI systems. This chapter explores AI literacy in the context of computer and digital literacy, emphasizing critical thinking, ethical considerations, and the societal impacts of AI technologies on society. The chapter highlights key components of AI literacy, including a foundational understanding of AI concepts, practical technical skills, and an awareness of the legal and ethical challenges associated with AI adoption. It covers topics such as global initiatives, educational programs, and projects aimed at fostering AI literacy across various educational levels, from K-12 to higher education. The chapter underscores the importance of equipping individuals with the necessary skills to navigate the complexities of AI and ensuring responsible and ethical use and implementation of the new technology.
