Abstract

The interplay of tourism, culture, and technology is a significant driver of innovation in the growth of a sustainable sector. Intelligent Information Systems (IIS), which consists of technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Internet of Things (IoT), and Big Data Analytics, enable the personalization of cultural and tourism experiences, while at the same time improving destination management. This research aims to investigate the various ways intelligent information systems can be utilized in tourism and cultural contexts. The study assesses the level of contribution of IIS technologies to sustainability, improved operational performance, and visitor experiences in the management of cultural and tourism destinations. The primary focus will be the use of artificial intelligence and data analytics to conduct predictive modeling of tourist demand, dynamic pricing models, and effective visitor flow management in cultural places and museums. The study will also examine the impact of smart systems on cultural management including the use of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) systems that enhance the visitor experience and create interactive cultural products. Further, the consideration of using chatbots and digital guides to provide personalized tours experiences and real-time information to tourists and cultural users will also be evaluated. The study also investigates the challenges and opportunities posed by the use of smart information systems, in both local and international contexts, stressing the strategic merger of conservation and tourism objectives with respect to cultural heritage. Through a detailed case analysis of smart tourism and cultural destinations, the paper explores the remarkable range of potential for intelligent information systems as a platform for the valuation of cultural heritage, scaling visitor engagement, and sustainable tourism development. The findings indicate that the strategic application of technology and the culture and tourism programs can offer innovative, sustainable, and enriched tourism products that are beneficial to both the tourist and destination and has the potential to maintain a cultural respect and heritage value.
