Abstract

Le continent africain connaît depuis peu une croissance soutenue des investissements dans le secteur agricole. Certaines de ces stratégies d’investissement, reposant sur des mécanismes financiers tels que les structures d’actionnariat ou le capital- investissement, sont directement liées à la financiarisation de l’agriculture. Cette financiarisation est, d’une part, une conséquence des nouvelles tendances de la globalisation des secteurs et des filières agricoles, plus particulièrement du besoin de capitalisation et de gestion des risques ; d’autre part, elle reconfigure à son tour le secteur et ses filières. Le présent chapitre tente de décrypter ces dynamiques en décrivant ce processus de financiarisation dans la pratique, en se fondant sur deux études de cas, l’une en Afrique, l’autre sur le continent asiatique. Le chapitre présente ainsi les moteurs de la financiarisation, son expansion concrète dans l’agriculture, ainsi que les conséquences que cela implique en termes d’intégration et de verticalisation poussée des filières, et de corporatisation de l’agriculture. Ces dynamiques posent ainsi les bases de nouveaux questionnements concernant la structuration du secteur et sa capacité à œuvrer pour un développement durable.
