La estructura económica de San Andrés y Providencia en 1846

Abstract

A finales del siglo XVIII y hasta comienzos de la década de 1850 en el Archipiélago de San Andrés y Providencia, la economía de las islas estuvo soportada por el monocultivo del algodón el cual se exportaba, luego se reemplazó el cultivo por el coco hasta los años 1950 y las exportaciones eran las del coco; esta forma de producción de un único producto agrícola hizo que la economía de estas islas fuera inestable.
