Zukunftsaspekte europäischer Mobilität - Perspektiven und Grenzen einer Innovation von Magnetschnellbahntechnologien

Abstract

Die vorliegende Studie entstand als Habilitationsschrift an der Universität Leipzig und untersucht aus verkehrsgeographischer Perspektive die Zukunftsfähigkeit und das Innovationspotenzial von Magnetschnellbahntechnologien im europäischen Verkehr. Im Rahmen einer Technologiefolgenabschätzung werden Magnetschnellbahn, Rad-Schiene-Hochgeschwindigkeitsverkehr, Flugzeug und Langstreckenreisebus hinsichtlich Energiebedarf und Emissionen, Geschwindigkeit und Reisezeit, Verschleiß und Instandhaltung, Infrastruktur sowie Investitions-, Betriebs- und Finanzierungskosten verglichen. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit gilt Fragen der Kompatibilität, Interoperabilität, Vernetzung und Entmischung von Verkehrsarten sowie der Einbindung eigenständiger Hochgeschwindigkeitssysteme in bestehende Verkehrsnetze. Darüber hinaus analysiert die Studie die räumlichen und ökonomischen Wirkungen von Hochgeschwindigkeitsinfrastrukturen auf Zentralität, Erreichbarkeit, Reurbanisierung, Metropolenentwicklung und Standortgunst. Internationale Erfahrungen aus Japan, Südkorea, der VR China, Taiwan und den USA ergänzen die europäische Perspektive. Weitere Schwerpunkte bilden Innovationsprozesse, Markt- und Betreiberinteressen, Nutzeranforderungen, Industriepolitik und gesellschaftliche Akzeptanz. Magnetschnellbahnen werden dabei als potenzieller technologischer Paradigmenwechsel betrachtet, dessen Chancen und Grenzen im Zusammenspiel von Mobilität, Wirtschaft, Raum und Gesellschaft zu bewerten sind.
