Abstract

Das WIFO-Radar ist ein Instrument zur Analyse der relativen Wettbewerbsfähigkeit des Standortes Österreich unter Berücksichtigung wirtschaftlicher, sozialer und ökologischer Zielgrößen. Nach Rangverlusten in den vergangenen Jahren konnte Österreich seine Position zwar stabilisieren, liegt aber weiter hinter dem oberen Drittel der europäischen Vergleichsländer zurück. Die stark gestiegenen Preise in der Beherbergung und Gastronomie drücken die realen Erträge und treiben die Inflation. In der Folge hat der heimische Tourismus in den letzten Jahren im internationalen Vergleich an preislicher Wettbewerbsfähigkeit eingebüßt. Das diesjährige Sonderthema geht den Ursachen nach und zeigt Handlungsoptionen auf.
