Ärztliche Versorgung und der demographische Wandel

Abstract

Österreich ist in den kommenden Jahrzehnten mit einem deutlichen demographischen Wandel konfrontiert. Da der Bedarf an medizinischer Versorgung mit steigendem Alter zunimmt, wird allein aufgrund der Alterung der Bevölkerung die Nachfrage nach medizinischen Leistungen zunehmen. Dem steht eine vergleichsweise ungünstige Ärztedemographie gegenüber. Der vorliegende Beitrag quantifiziert für Wien das aktuelle und künftige Angebotsvolumen an ärztlichen Leistungen. Die Basis für die Bestimmung der aktuellen Nachfrage nach ärztlichen Leistungen bildet eine Befragung von Wiener Ärztinnen und Ärzten zur aktuellen Verteilung der erbrachten medizinischen Leistungen nach Altersgruppen. Die Ergebnisse der Befragung werden dabei mit Projektionen zur demographischen Entwicklung der Bevölkerung und der Ärzte- bzw. Absolventenpopulation (zur Bestimmung des Angebotes an ärztlichen Leistungen) verknüpft, um den künftigen Versorgungsgrad zu identifizieren. Wie die Ergebnisse zeigen, entsteht bis 2050 eine markante Lücke: Auch unter optimistischen Annahmen wird sie auf mehr als ein Zehntel der Nachfrage geschätzt.
