Hochschulfinanzierung im internationalen Vergleich

Abstract

Im Vergleich mit einer Gruppe von führenden europäischen Ländern verfügen die Hochschulen in Österreich gemessen an der Zahl der Studierenden über ein unterdurchschnittliches Budget. Aufgrund der starken Steigerung der Zahl der Studierenden könnte selbst die Erreichung des Zieles einer Hochschulausgabenquote von 2% des BIP nur bedingt zur Verbesserung der Aufgabenerfüllung der Hochschulen beitragen. Eine Anhebung des privaten Finanzierungsanteils auf den Durchschnitt der hier untersuchten 21 EU-Länder würde die erforderlichen öffentlichen Mehrausgaben kumuliert bis 2020 um 3,5 Mrd. € p. a. senken.
