Abstract

El éxito económico y empresarial de China durante las últimas décadas ha suscitado el interés de la comunidad académica, que ha analizado el caso chino desde distintas perspectivas. Este interés en el caso chino ha ido acompañado de cierto abandono por otros casos de éxito económico de particular interés desde la perspectiva de la Historia Económica y del Pensamiento Económico como el japonés, que se adelantó en casi un siglo al chino. El caso japonés ha pasado de hecho a considerarse un apéndice del chino en múltiples ocasiones. En el presente trabajo se analizan, bajo premisas institucionalistas, los elementos de la organización social del Japón feudal que influyeron en la organización económica moderna, así como los pensamientos más significativos en este modelo, poniendo en valor que no puede ser el confucianismo el elemento central que explique la configuración y surgimiento del Japón moderno durante la era Meiji.
