The attention of the little preschooler (3-4 years) and his cognitive abilities

Abstract

The purpose of the research was to find out whether cognitive abilities in 3-4 year-old preschoolers correlate with visual attention. Cognitive abilities involve the activities which are necessary in mental processing of information. 44 children from two kindergardens in Constanta were tested. Testing revealed that all 5 dimensions (attention, memory, categorization, problem planning and problem solving, language - comprehension and expression), cognitive abilities correlate positively with visual attention. As a result of the research, differences were also found between how these abilities are appreciated by the teacher and by the parents. Another difference found was by gender.
