Abstract

In this paper we will present the impact that value systems have on the thoughts, opinions and choices made by preschool teachers in their careers. Often, professional values can have a diminshed importance in the current educational context, because the emphasis is on school documents, on the educational ideal and on students' performance. However, they have a considerable impact on the quality of the educational act provided by teachers, emphasizing their social image, behaviour and attitude related to the profession and personal life, thus providing valuable information about their personality. In the article we highlighted the realm of the meanings of the concept of value from several perspectives, so that in the end we can personalize the information about the educational environment and about the teachers. The aspect related to values proves to be of great relevance in the context of our education system because they have a strong impact on the educational interactions between teacher and children, teachers and parents of preschoolers. At the same time, it determines the quality of the children's school performances, the emotional atmosphere at the level of the groups, but also the perception other people can have upon the teacher. The Inventory of Professional Values, as a main research tool, gave us the opportunity to investigate the educational reality at the level of the preschool education institutions concerned.
