Abstract

This paper presents a model of the beef sector of the Greek economy. Central to the model is the cattle inventory, the number of slaughterings, and the weight per animal. The model has been estimated with data for the period 1966-87. The behavior of this model is examined for the period ending in 1997 by means of simulation under the assumption that certain of the recent proposals for the reformulation of the CAP are adopted.
