Abstract

In this paper, economics and environmental factors are analyzed to determine their relevance as predictors of orange production in Montemorelos, Nueva León. The production of orange is one of the most important economic activities in Montemorelos. Over the past decades, this region has experienced a decline in production of oranges. This study seeks to determine which economics and environmental factor have a direct impact on the production of oranges in this region. The results indicates that, even though, local farmers continue to support orange production, plantation aging, technology and global demand of this fruit directly impact orange production. This study offers recommendations to increase the production of oranges and improve the economic development of the region.
