Abstract

En este art culo se lleva a cabo una valoraci n del sistema de conciertos educativos desde la perspectiva de su contribuci n efectiva a la igualaci n de las oportunidades de selecci n de centro escolar por parte de las familias. Tomando como marco te rico las aportaciones realizadas por los estudiosos de los efectos de las pol ticas de fomento de la libertad de elecci n de escuela, y a partir de una encuesta realizada a estudiantes de segundo curso de bachillerato en el curso 2001-2002 en las comunidades aut nomas de Arag n, Asturias y Extremadura, el trabajo realizado permite concluir que los conciertos educativos en su dise o actual no han facilitado la integraci n socioecon mica de los alumnos de los centros p blicos y concertados de ense anza secundaria. El an lisis de las caracter sticas de los alumnos que eligen un centro concertado realizado en la ltima secci n del art culo mediante la especificaci n de un modelo probit permite adem s apreciar una relaci n significativa entre el nivel acad mico y socioecon mico y la elecci n de centro privado concertado, indicando que la segregaci n intersectorial encontrada en el trabajo puede ser atribuida en parte al patr n de elecci n de los usuarios del sistema educativo.
