Abstract

This article examines how the social and economic developments of 1940s Turkey were reflected in the articles published in "The Journal of Business Economics", which was the first journal focused on business issues in Turkey and published in 1943-1948. Journal's position for the academy and field of practice of the period is revealed. The articles written by the authors from academia and state enterprises during the 1943-1948 period were evaluated based on the issues that formed the political and economic agenda of the time. A total of 260 articles in the 43 issues of the journal were examined under the headings such as Agricultural Issues, National Business Administration, Efforts to Create an Entrepreneur from Turkish People, Training of Qualified People in Business Life, Business Education, and Accounting Affairs. To understand the role of the journal, which aims to "appeal to the business world", the situation of the academic and field of practice that shaped the agenda of the period in which it was published is also explained in the article.
