Abstract

A simple theoretical method was developed here to estimate the optimum tilt angle of a solar absorber plate of free orientation during any period of time “t” in the year (t = N × day where “N” is an integer). This method was applied to an equator-facing surface in the northern hemisphere. Daily, monthly, seasonal and yearly optimum tilt angles were calculated. The results obtained are compared with the results of other studies.
