Financing constraints of listed agricultural companies, agricultural product processing output value, and supply chain finance

Abstract

Based on data from A-share listed agricultural companies in China from 2009 to 2023, this paper empirically examines the impact of financing constraints and agricultural product processing industry output (APPI) on the level of supply chain finance in agricultural enterprises. The results show that financing constraints significantly inhibit the level of supply chain finance in agricultural enterprises; regional APPI enhances the level of supply chain finance in these enterprises; APPI significantly moderates the effect of financing constraints on the supply chain finance level of agricultural enterprises; there is heterogeneity in the impact of financing constraints on the supply chain finance level between state-owned agricultural enterprises (SOAE) and private-owned agricultural enterprises (POAE); and the impact of regional APPI on the supply chain finance level varies among agricultural enterprises with different leverage levels.
