Abstract

This study analyzes the relationship between basic medical insurance (BMI) and household financial asset allocation using data from the China Household Finance Survey conducted in 2015, 2017, and 2019. Findings indicate that BMI promotes household financial allocation, with a heterogeneous effect among households with or without self-owned housing. Furthermore, the use of household credit cards can enhance the relationship between BMI and household financial allocation, and the moderating impact of credit card usage differs among households in the eastern, central, and western regions.
