Digital economy, internet usage, and resident satisfaction

Abstract

Drawing on data from the 2021 China General Social Survey, this study examines the relationship between the digital economy, internet usage, and resident satisfaction. Results indicate a strong positive correlation between digital economy and resident satisfaction. The mechanism analysis reveals that internet usage serves as a key mediating factor in this relationship. Heterogeneity analysis reveals considerable differences in how the digital economy affects residents’ satisfaction across political identities. Additionally, higher resident income can positively moderate the link between the digital economy and well-being.
