Abstract

This paper conducts an in-depth analysis of newly listed startups from 2014 to 2022 in terms of the effect that their market orientation and dynamic capabilities have on their performance. The results show that market orientation and dynamic capabilities of startup firms can significantly enhance their performance. Dynamic capabilities play a significant moderating role in the relationship between market orientation and startup performance, exhibiting heterogeneity in state-owned and nonstate-owned enterprises. Furthermore, a threshold effect was observed on startup performance regarding the impact of market orientation.
