Theorizing tourism meaning creation: An exploration of the cultural political economy framework

Abstract

•Tourism is an important meaning creation phenomenon and industry.•Tourism meaning creation has been studied from various conceptual approaches.•There are limits to the explanatory value of these conceptual approaches.•Cultural Political Economy seems a useful framework for theorizing tourism meanings.
