El Banco Mundial y la Visión Capitalista del Desarrollo: Hacía el Avance del Debate Sobre lo Social

Abstract

El Banco Mundial (BM) busca el desarrollo económico y social a través de reformas que favorecen al capital, usando como herramientas ajustes a los mercados, instituciones y el aumento del crecimiento económico. La liberalización de las cuentas de capital y las barreras comerciales, privatizaciones, mayores subvenciones a la demanda, ajustes fiscales y demás son expuestas como la manera idónea de una economía para salir de la pobreza. En este artículo se cuestiona la narrativa del BM. En primer lugar, se hablará del empleo y crecimiento acorde a lo social, biológico, psicológico y natural; después, se tratará la visión reduccionista de la ayuda al capital y los mercados; por último, el texto finaliza con reflexiones en torno a la constitución de lo social en la economía.
