Cultivos ilícitos y erradicación forzosa en Colombia

Abstract

Colombia es el único país de la región Andina que emplea la fumigación para reducir el ritmo de crecimiento de los cultivos ilícitos. Este artículo explora la conducta de los cultivadores en el tiempo, frente a un evento aleatorio de fumigación, utilizando las herramientas del control óptimo para maximizar sus beneficios, e incorporando al análisis la probabilidad de erradicación. Se encuentra que la erradicación puede generar efectos no previstos sobre la dinámica de los cultivos que tienden a reducir el ritmo de extracción de las cosechas, y a acelerar el crecimiento en el tiempo del área cultivada.
