Abstract

Das 43. Ökonomenpanel von ifo und FAZ widmet sich dem Bundeshaushalt 2024. Es legt einen Fokus auf die sicherheitspolitische Zeitenwende, die weitreichende Implikationen auf den deutschen Bundeshaushalt hat. Für öffentliche Investitionen sehen die Ökonominnen und Ökonomen in den Bereichen Infrastruktur, Bildung und Verteidigung die größten Handlungsbedarfe. Bei der Frage, welche Ministerien im Jahr 2024 mehr Mittel als 2023 zur Verfügung haben sollten, liegt das Verteidigungsministerium auf dem ersten Platz. Mehr als drei Viertel sprechen sich für Verteidigungsausgaben im Einklang mit dem 2%-Ziel der NATO aus. Die dafür notwendigen Finanzmittel sollen primär über die Konsolidierung von anderen Haushaltsbereichen zur Verfügung gestellt werden.
