Abstract

Economists believe that state intervention in the meat market is necessary. This is the finding of the 30th ifo and FAZ Economists Panel. Of the 123 professors who took part, 85 percent call for animal welfare regulations, especially improved minimum standards for animal production. A majority of the economists also call for regulations on worker protection and on environmental protection.
