"Trade Fair Index": Results for 2017 and Outlook for 2018

Abstract

The "Trade Fair Index" is based on data from the ifo Business Survey and provides companies that exhibit their products at international consumer and investment goods fairs with an indicator on the economic situation. A special question in the ifo Business Survey makes it possible to differentiate between companies that participate and do not participate in trade fairs. The results of the "Trade Fair Index" for 2017 show that exhibitors are in a stronger economic position than non-exhibitors. Small and medium-sized companies tend to benefit from participating in trade fairs.
