German Manufacturing: Greater Willingness to Invest

Author

Abstract

According to the latest results of the Ifo Investment Survey, firms in German industry intend to increase their investments by around 9%. For 2013 survey participants’ reports indicate a 3% increase in growth-related investment, while investments in replacement procurements were balanced in 2013 and 2014. This year around 30% of fixed asset investments can be attributed to both of these motives. Compared to the 1990s rationalisation measures only played a subordinate role.
