Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of access to the urban markets on the variation of rural farmers income of the informal sector in Cameroon. The analysis focuses on a sample of 6526 rural farmers working in the informal sector, from the third Cameroon household survey ECAM3 (Ins, 2007). Based on the theoretical model of public goods and the Todaro model, econometric results, obtained using a logit model, reveal that: corruption-free road police controls and the good quality of roads linking rural farms to urban markets are increasing the incomes of rural farmers.
