Abstract

In diesem Übersichtsartikel beleuchten Melanie Häner und Christoph A. Schaltegger den Forschungsstand zur intergenerationellen sozialen Mobilität. Sie grenzen zunächst verschiedene Konzepte und Maße voneinander ab und erläutern den Zusammenhang zwischen der sozialen Ungleichheit und der sozialen Mobilität. Dabei legen sie ein Augenmerk auf die Verwendung von Nachnamen für langfristige Analysen über mehrere Generationen. Anschließend stellen sie den aktuellen Forschungsstand dar, den sie nach den verschiedenen Indikatoren des sozialen Status ordnen. Der Forschung zur Situation in der Schweiz widmen sie ein eigenes Kapitel. Der Beitrag enthält zudem einen Exkurs zum Einfluss der Großeltern und der Mütter. Schließlich nutzen die Autoren die wichtigsten Schlussfolgerungen im Fazit zur Formulierung einer groben Forschungsagenda.
