Abstract

This paper deals with how an Australian aviation and transport facility management company manages the implementation of its national Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) plan and strategic risk programme. It looks at the best practice approaches to improving the lost time injury and total recordable case frequency safety statistics. It shows how executives should be trained in change management through the ‘leading change’ framework and strengthening relationships and accountability at a senior level. This paper also has implications for how HSE legislation changes and legislative activity impact business operations. It was presented at the Australian Airports Conference at the Brisbane Convention Centre, Australia, in November 2018.
