Climate-proofing the airport of the future

Abstract

The effects of climate change have the potential to impact both aviation operations and infrastructure. Although this is still an emerging risk, awareness is growing and some organisations are now taking action to adapt. Key priorities for action include understanding and assessing potential impacts, identifying the potential resilience measures required and collaboration and communication across the sector to reduce overall network vulnerability. Pre-emptive action based on robust information is widely considered to be efficient and cost-effective and so now is the time for organisations to begin assessing whether this is a risk which they need to address.
