Mujeres en juntas directivas en Colombia y su efecto sobre el desempeno financiero de las empresas

Abstract

Este trabajo busca identificar el efecto que tiene el nombramiento de mujeres en la junta directiva sobre el desempeno financiero de las empresas. Estudios previos muestran resultados contradictorios sobre esta relación. No obstante, los contextos son diversos, así como las restricciones de información. Partiendo de la teoría de agencia y considerando evidencia de aportes de las mujeres directoras al funcionamiento de las juntas, se encuentra una posible relación entre el porcentaje de mujeres directoras y el desempeno financiero en un panel de empresas colombianas entre los anos 2000 y 2009. Se encuentra que juntas con más de tres mujeres directoras tienen un desempeno superior en el ROA frente a empresas con menor participación femenina, corroborando la hipótesis de masa crítica.
