El desajuste educativo en España. Una comparativa entre 2007 y 2012

Abstract

La expansión de la educación experimentada en las últimas décadas responde a la generación de expectativas positivas en términos de desarrollo personal, laboral y económico. Este fenómeno, mantenido durante varias décadas, ha dado lugar a un notable desajuste educativo en el mercado de trabajo, del que se han hecho eco numerosos trabajos empíricos en el ámbito de la economía laboral y de la educación. Cabe preguntarse si realmente resulta rentable invertir en más años de educación con el objetivo de obtener mayores rentas, o si por el contrario los trabajadores sobreeducados ingresan menos que aquellos ocupados en puestos acordes a su nivel educativo. En base a estas cuestiones, los cambios recientes en el contexto económico y el mercado laboral español sugieren también cambios en los rendimientos de la educación y el desajuste educativo. En el trabajo se realiza un ejercicio descriptivo y comparativo de los datos obtenidos de la Encuesta de Condiciones de Vida 2007 y 2012, haciendo hincapié en la medición del desajuste educativo y su reflejo en los niveles salariales. Se aportan diversas especificaciones econométricas, desde la Ecuación Minceriana a los modelos de Verdugo y Verdugo, o Duncan y Hoffman, con aproximaciones MCO y por variables instrumentales. Los resultados obtenidos a través de las diferentes especificaciones de la ecuación de salarios muestran evidencia de cambios significativos entre 2007 y 2012, fundamentalmente en relación al sexo y la edad del trabajador, vinculados a la incidencia de la crisis. Se constata además que la sobreeducación implica una penalización en términos de ingresos, si bien es de menor intensidad en 2012.
