Skispitzensport in Österreich: Förderung und Bedeutung

Abstract

Skispitzensport hat wirtschaftliche und soziale Effekte, die durch private Mittel nicht vollständig abgegolten werden. Aus ökonomischer Sicht ist daher eine Mitfinanzierung des Skispitzensports durch die öffentliche Hand gerechtfertigt. Die Schätzung dieser durch den Skispitzensport induzierten externen Effekte (z. B. durch den Imagegewinn einer Region) ist sehr schwierig; zudem weist der Skispitzensport meritorische Elemente auf (z. B. im Gesundheitsbereich), die einer rational-ökonomischen Entscheidung über die optimale Höhe einer öffentlichen Förderung nicht zugänglich sind – die Höhe der öffentlichen Finanzierung wird letztlich politisch bestimmt.
