Abstract

[eng] Definitions of quality and forms of organisation. . The question of quality is a highly debated issue within theories of the market. Reference to situations where the quality of goods is poorly defined or where non-market criteria are brought in creates problems for this frame of analysis, and calls for consideration of alternative forms of coordination. In this article, the author develops and analysis of several forms of coordination, each of which corresponds to a distinct definition of quality. This procedure allows one to take into consideration situations which do not conform to standard economie theory (e.g., the limited flexibility of prices, long-lasting relations between actors) whithout reducing them to market failures. It thereby opens the way to analysis of the complexity of industrial networks through study of the articulations between several forms of coordination.
