Abstract

[eng] Toward a cognitive approach to economic conventions. . This article studies the functioning of financial markets under condition where there is doubt about the evaluation of market fundamentals. I show how mimetic behavior destabilises cotations. Conventions are the social structures that can prevent a general loss of confidence. I analyse the close link between Knight's notion of uncertainty and his regulative function of convention. Conventions involve collective representations that make possible an a priori coordination of individuel expectations.
