Les discriminations ethniques et raciales dans l'enquête Trajectoires et Origines : représentations, expériences subjectives et situations vécues

Abstract

[fre] Dans la littérature scientifique consacrée à la mesure des discriminations, plusieurs approches sont développées et s’avèrent complémentaires : l’analyse des résidus discriminatoires associés à une caractéristique étudiée (le plus souvent le sexe ou l’origine) ; les audits par paires (testings) ; la mesure des biais implicites à l’encontre de minorités ; ou encore l’expérience rapportée par les enquêtés. Cet article applique cette dernière approche à partir des données de l’enquête Trajectoires et Origines (Ined, Insee, 2008‑2009). Différents indicateurs de discrimination ont été construits – sur les représentations à l’égard des discriminations, sur l’expérience auto‑reportée de la discrimination et sur les situations de discriminations dans différents domaines de la vie sociale. Ces indicateurs sont analysés conjointement avec l’expérience répétée d’un renvoi aux origines et le sentiment de ne pas être vu comme Français, considérés comme des mesures d’altérisation. L’article montre que les discriminations dites «ethno‑raciales » touchent essentiellement les immigrés et descendants d’immigrés d’origines africaine et turque. La comparaison des indicateurs de discrimination indique que l’expérience auto‑reportée (plus subjective) fournit un niveau de prévalence systématiquement inférieur à celui calculé à partir des situations discriminatoires rencontrées dans les différents domaines de la vie sociale. La forte corrélation enregistrée entre ces deux indicateurs montre néanmoins que l’expérience auto‑reportée est bien adossée à des faits concrets. Discriminations vécues et mesures d’altérisation sont également fortement liées. On observe enfin une incidence significative et autonome de la religion musulmane sur le risque de déclarer des discriminations. Ces résultats plaident en faveur de l’évaluation des discriminations à partir d’une approche combinant les types de mesure.
