Abstract

In Management Research (Research in Organization, Human Resources and Leadership) there is a permanent debate on the relationship between theory and practice unique compared to other disciplines. This paper questions why this is the case: Plurality of theories, theoretical imperialism, wrong incentives in academia, and navel-gazing. Cooperation between theory and practice can be supported by how direct democracy functions in Switzerland.
