Abstract

Tanulmányukban a szerzők áttekintést nyújtanak a magyar bankrendszer elmúlt évtizedben lezajlott változásairól. A folyamatok történeti bemutatásával párhuzamosan amellett érvelnek, hogy mind a bankrendszer kialakítása, mind a későbbi állami beavatkozások alkalmával született hibás döntések a bankrendszer szerkezetátalakításának költségét jelentősen megnövelték. Mindazonáltal a nagybankok privatizációjával a közép-európai országok közül elsőként sikerült egy megbízhatóan működő pénzügyi infrastruktúra alapjait kialakítani. Ennek a folyamatnak kétségtelenül vannak pozitív eredményei is. A nagybankok biztonságos működésének helyreállításával és a szóban forgó pénzintézetek privatizációjával kapcsolatos tapasztalatok hasznosak lehetnek a szomszédos országok gazdaságpolitikusai számára is.
